Frank Mitchell Smith, Jr. is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Christ’s Church for Our Community since January 30, 2000.  Pastor Smith, born April 28, 1969 in the Panama Canal Zone to the union of Frank Mitchell Smith, Sr. and Flora Mae Smith, later received a Christian Education throughout his early life.  Pastor was baptized in 1982 by the late Pastor J. Frank McGill at the Midwest Church of Christ, Louisville, KY and heeded his call into the Gospel Ministry and began preaching the gospel of Christ at the early age of 13.  His first sermon was delivered at the West Broadway Church of Christ, Louisville, KY at the invitation of Minister Johnnie McMillan.  His first sermon title was "Love".  His beloved mother gave him spiritual and prayerful guidance as he prepared his first sermon.  After several years of diligent service to the Lord in many capacities, he was later ordained by the late Pastor William Baker, August 20, 1989.  Pastor has traveled into over 25 states conducting Revivals, Youth Rallies, Youth Conference Keynotes, Church Conference Keynote Addresses, Fellowship Meetings, Lectureships, Seminars and Workshops.  He has been called upon to consult with Pastors and Churches in crisis.  Pastor has conducted Radio ministry in Louisville for about 20 years and can now be heard every Thursday from 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. on 1240 WLLV.  He is a graduate of the Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tennessee.   Pastor Smith served formerly as the Senior Pastor of the Newburg Church of Christ in Louisville, Kentucky for 7 years (1993 – 2000) after having served there as the Youth Minister and later full-time Associate Minister under the leadership of the late Pastor William Baker.  During his 7-year pastorate, the Newburg church grew to nearly 450 members, conducting 3 services on Sundays, ultimately debt-free with future development funds raised in excess of $80,000.

The Holy Spirit prompted Pastor Smith to accept the risk of rejection of the fellowship of his upbringing, based on his convictions, and to move forward by faith into intense levels of evangelism, community outreach, compassionate ministry and a more inclusive fellowship with all Christ-followers.  He has continued to be passionately concerned for the needs of others and has busied himself in establishing a Christ-centered congregation with the mission of “Reaching Up – Reaching In – and Reaching Out.”  The congregation began with 30 charter members and has since grown to over 100 members.  The church has fostered many outreach ministries for the homeless, impoverished, youth, grandparents raising grandchildren, and many other special needs of the community.

As Director of Development for Project One, Inc. in 2000, Pastor Smith assisted the Rev. Dr. Charles J. King, Jr. in acquiring the initial grant award of the Youth Opportunity Grant Initiative to Project One, Inc. in the amount of $750,000.  This grant being awarded a second time to Project One, Inc. allowed Project One, Inc. to impact over 3,000 youth enrolled in the Louisville Youth Opportunity Network.  He served as a Case Manager for the Louisville Youth Opportunity Network for 4 1/2 years giving guidance to a caseload of 155 youth as well of other participants in the program.  In November, 2004, Pastor resigned from the Louisville Youth Opportunity Network to accept a position with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana as a Match Support Specialist and served Big Brothers Big Sisters until March 30, 2007, guiding nearly 267 individuals in “Big-Little” matches.  Pastor is now serving as Executive Director for Project ELI (Everyone Loving the Inner City), a faith-based mentoring program based at Simmons College of Kentucky.

He seeks God’s wisdom in all things and simply endeavors to live the motto expressed by the Apostle Paul, “I am become all things to all people that by all means I might save some.
